Ronald J. Toppi, 55, of Hubbardston, formerly of Cambridge and Somerville, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 12, 2011 at home.

Ron, son of the late John A. and Geraldine T. (Atherton) Toppi, was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on November 4, 1955 and lived in Hubbardston six years. He was a graduate of Boston Trade School, class of 1973 and was a self employed Master Plumber for many years.

He enjoyed gardening and barbecuing and always looked forward to bowling at the Gardner Ten Pin. Years ago, Ron coached a girls soccer team.

Ron will be sadly missed by his children, Matthew Toppi, Ronald J. Toppi, Jr., Danielle Toppi and Christina Toppi; two brothers, John A. Toppi, Jr. and his wife Melissa of Saugus and Thomas E. Toppi and his wife Maria of Plantsville, CT; three sisters, Diane L. Conroy and her husband James of Hubbardston, Donna L. LeBlanc and her husband Rick of Templeton and Debra L. Desilets and her husband Kevin of Hubbardston, three grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Family and friends are planning to honor and celebrate Ron's life by gathering for visiting hours in the Community Chapel of Lamoureux Fletcher & Smith Funeral Home, 105 Central St., on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 from 7-9 PM. His funeral will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2011 beginning at the funeral home at 9 AM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Holy Spirit Church, Lovewell St., South Gardner at 10 AM. Rev. Thomas Tokarz will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergeen Cemetery, Hubbardston. Those who wish to remember Ron by making a memorial contribution in his memory are kindly asked to consider the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
