Grafton C. Fuller, 91, of Ashburnham, died peacefully Sunday afternoon, March 07, 2010, in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, after a brief illness.

Grafton was born in Pepperell, MA July 27, 1918, son of the late Chester S. and Mary E. (Wood) Fuller, and lived in Pepperell for many years before moving to Ashburnham 32 years ago. His beloved wife Lillian P. (Mayo) Fuller died in 2003.

Grafton proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army 3rd Armored Division. He was awarded a Purple Heart, A Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, and the European, African, and Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon. Prior to his retirement, Grafton was employed with Sanval Concrete as a mechanic and head of the motor pool.

Grafton will be remembered as a kind and loving man. He was often willing to give of his time and expertise to help his family members. He bought a 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme for his great-nephew, and together they restored the entire car, including rebuilding the engine which was completely in pieces. Later he helped the same great-nephew through graduate school. Grafton was a talented mechanic. He was the crew chief and chief mechanic for a dirt track race car team. He earned a certificate from the University of California at Los Angeles in electronics, and one from the University of Kentucky. Grafton was a member and past treasurer for the Teamsters, and a member of the Pepperell Rotary Club.

Grafton will be sadly missed by his nephew; Michael C. Kanterovich of Hollis, NH, and his great-nephew; Ryan E. Sullivan. He was predeceased by two sisters; Hazel Templeton, and Mabel Kanterovich.
