Eva M. (Landry) Sargent, 88, of Ashburnham, died peacefully early Tuesday morning in Heywood hospital after a brief illness.
Eva was born in Fitchburg, February 20, 1922, daughter of the late Daniel B. and Carolyn B. (Cullen) Landry, and lived in Gardner for many years before moving to Ashburnham 16 years ago. She married her beloved husband Robert A. Sargent in November of 1948, and they have shared over 61years together.
Prior to her retirement Eva worked as a Forewoman for Simplex Time Recorder. She was a long time communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Gardner, the Ashburnham Forever Young Club, and AARP. Eva enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She loved playing bingo, and always looked forward to playing cards with her husband and her friends at Ashley Court in Ashburnham.
Besides her husband, Eva will be sadly missed by one son; Robert D. Sargent of Gardner, one daughter; Maryann T. Ham of Ashburnham, 3sisters; Theresa A. Nauman of Fitchburg, Eileen E. Eich of Blasdell, NY, and Pauline Bolduc of New Ipswich, NH, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Eva was predeceased by one brother Joseph Landry, and two sisters; Lee Ward, and Ella M. Upton.
Relatives and friends are planning to honor and celebrate Eva's life by gathering for her visiting hours in the Lamoureux-Fletcher Community Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner, on Thursday March 04, 2010 from 6-8PM. Her Funeral will be held on Friday March 05, 2010 beginning in the funeral home at 10AM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Cross St., Gardner at 11AM. Burial in St. John's Cemetery West St. Gardner will be private. In lieu of flowers the donations in Eva's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
