Michael J. Cote, 46, of Winchendon, died unexpectedly in Templeton early Sunday morning from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident.
Michael was born in Winchendon on April 6, 1963 son of Joseph A. and Irene C. (Chicoin) Cote of Palm Bay, Florida, and lived in Winchendon his entire life. Michael was currently employed as a carpenter with Pelletier and Sons Construction. He was a former owner of First Cornerstone Properties, D&M Investments, 1st C.P. 29 Main, and Top Job Builders.
Family always came first for Michael, more than anything. He cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, especially when they were camping. Every summer he would take his family and friends on camping trips to Maine. Michael was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 107. During his time with Top Job Builders, he sponsored a Race Car. He enjoyed playing darts, playing pool, and he was active in many pool leagues. He was a member of the Coldbrook Snowmobile Club. Michael was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He would always be sure to ride in the Annual Ryan's Run motorcycle run.
Besides his parents, Michael will be sadly missed by his sons; Michael J. Cote, Jr. of Templeton and Kenneth A. Cote, of Winchendon, his daughter; Christina M. Roche of Templeton, two sisters; Laura M. Cote of Palm Bay, Florida, and Melisa L. Cote of Pittsfield, Vermont, 6 grandchildren; Jason Cote, Elysia Cote, Ariana Roche, Jeremiah Roche, Kayce Cote, and Zoe Correa, his godparents; Alfred and Marie Couture of Worcester, his goddaughter; Chellane Cote, his former wife; Mary F. (Hull) Cote of Templeton, his former fiancé; Doreen Herr of Winchendon and a very close friend; Alana Hill of Otter River. Michael was predeceased by one brother; Joseph Cote, Jr..
Relatives and friends are planning to honor and celebrate Michael's life by gathering for his funeral which will begin at Fletcher-Hebert Funeral Home, 70 Pleasant St., Winchendon on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 10AM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Martin's Church, State Rd., Otter River at 11AM. Rev. Joseph Jurgelonis will celebrate the Mass. Calling Hours will be held in the funeral home on Monday, February 15, 2010 from 5-8 pm. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, West St., Gardner will private.
